Surfaces of pipes Pipes with smooth surface are treated with carnauba wax or shellac
varnish. Rusticated and sand-blasted pipes are only treated with
shellac varnish. I don´t use lacquer. It is possible to add a silver
(or golden) cap or ring – look at the photos. The inside of the
tobacco hole is edged and glossy – a good pipe has to prove its
qualities also from the inside!
