About me

It is the year 2006, I am 52 years old and I have been working in the pipe industry for 25 years. I have spent 18 years in the factory in Proseč (where pipes are made) under the leadership of the master of this section, Mr Jan Buben, who taught me not only to make pipes, but he also introduced me to such a beautiful wood, which briar, of which pipes are made, really is. He taught me to great patience and responsibility not only to myself, but also to the customer.

I decided to work on my own 7 years ago. The decision was not easy because the competition is huge and I entered the unknown a bit. I managed to arrange contacts with the company Manno from Italy which supplies me excellent briar plateaux of which I make all my pipes. I work completely on my own only with the aid of the turning lathe, sawing machine, drilling machine and many various kinds of tools. My pipes are made without the help of cutters or copying machines. Each pipe is handcrafted and it is the original.

At the meetings of pipe-smokers in the Czech Republic and abroad I can see that my pipes are capable of competing, they can captivate with their shape and workmanship. At work I stem from the tradition of making pipes in Proseč, my models are pipe-masters from all over the world, but my pipes are mostly the product of my own creativity. The production of a pipe is very long process and the result is never clear before I start making the pipe. But the finished pipe, ready to expedition, with its amazing drawing, is worth it to overcome all production difficulties. Not only me, but especially the customer has to be satisfied with the result.
